چکیده

Given two sets S1, S2 of moving objects, a future timestamp tq, and a distance threshold d, a spatio-temporal join retrieves all pairs of objects that are within distance d at tq. The selectivity of a join equals the number of retrieved pairs divided by the cardinality of the Cartesian product S1 S2. This paper develops a model for spatio-temporal join selectivity estimation based on rigorous probabilistic analysis, and reveals the factors that affect the selectivity. Initially, we solve the problem for 1D (point and rectangle) objects whose location and velocities distribute uniformly, and then extend the results to multi-dimensional spaces. Finally, we deal with non-uniform distributions using a specialized spatio-temporal histogram. Extensive experiments confirm that the proposed formulae are highly accurate (average error below 10%). r 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Efficiently Querying Moving Objects with Pre-defined Paths in a Distributed Environment

Due to the recent growth of the World Wide Web, numerous spatio-temporal applications can obtain their required information from publicly available web sources. We consider those sources maintaining moving objects with predefined paths and schedules, and investigate different plans to perform queries on the integration of these data sources efficiently. Examples of such data sources are network...

An Experimental Performance Evaluation of Spatio-Temporal Join Strategies

Many applications capture, or make use of, spatial data that changes over time. This requirement for effective and efficient spatio-temporal data management has given rise to a range of research activities relating to spatio-temporal data management. Such work has sought to understand, for example, the requirements of different categories of application, and the modelling facilities that are mo...

SCUBA: Scalable Cluster-Based Algorithm for Evaluating Continuous Spatio-temporal Queries on Moving Objects

In this paper, we propose, SCUBA, a Scalable Cluster Based Algorithm for evaluating a large set of continuous queries over spatiotemporal data streams. The key idea of SCUBA is to group moving objects and queries based on common spatio-temporal properties at runtime into moving clusters to optimize query execution and thus facilitate scalability. SCUBA exploits shared cluster-based execution by...

Clustering Moving Objects for Spatio-temporal Selectivity Estimation

Many spatio-temporal applications involve managing and querying moving objects. In such an environment, predictive spatio-temporal queries become an important query class to be processed to capture the nature of moving objects. In this paper, we investigated the problem of selectivity estimation for predictive spatio-temporal queries. We propose a novel histogram technique based on a clustering...

Assessment of Neonate's Congenital Hypothyroidism Pattern Using Poisson Spatio-temporal Model in Disease Mapping under the Bayesian Paradigm during 2011-18 in Guilan, Iran

Background: Congenital Hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the reasons for mental retardation and defective growth in neonates. It can be treated if it is diagnosed early. The congenital hypothyroidism can be diagnosed using newborn screening in the first days after birth. Disease mapping helps to identify high-risk areas of the disease. This study aimed to evaluate the pattern of CH using the Poisso...
